Touch A Truck 2015

This weekend was our town's annual Touch A Truck event.  We went last year and loved it, so we thought we'd make a go of it this year as well.  The advantage to this year though was that we found out about the horn-free hour!  We tried to arrive right on time for the quiet hour, and we managed to walk through the entire exhibit before it got loud.  Enoch enjoyed touching lots of trucks, but he wasn't real keen on sitting on too many of them.  One change I noticed this year was that Enoch had a lot of questions for the machine operators, and he was especially curious about how things worked.  "What does this button do?"  or "Where does the cement come from?" were some of his typical questions.

I didn't get many photos this time because we were just enjoying all of the big trucks and equipment, but here are the few I did capture.

this was about the only machine he was willing to sit on (other than a police car), and he had quite a few questions about it!

This was our view from the car when we were leaving.  Quite a popular event!

Karis sported Enoch's construction hat for a few minutes at lunch.

And the beloved CFA cows came by to say hi.  Karis is quite smitten with them.  :)

They had actually just come from the Touch a Truck event too, which is why they are wearing a fireman and police officer uniforms.

FFF: Enoch Driving A Tractor

At the end of May we took a cross-country trip to visit some of our family.  Almost everywhere we went, Enoch got to ride on some type of machine.  :)  This is the only video I got, but I hope to post more pictures soon!

In the video Enoch is getting to control the front bucket, which he loved!

FFF: Touch A Truck

A few weekends ago we went to a city-wide event called Touch A Truck, where kids of all ages are able to get up close and personal with big trucks and machines.  The city helps organize it, and the truck/machine drivers bring their equipment to show off and talk to the kids.  It was our first year to attend, and we loved it!  Here are some of the pictures I took of the boys enjoying the large equipment.  (Us girls just followed along and took the photos...)

walking up from the car (there were all kinds of horns and sirens being blown the entire time we were there (since kids were able to get up and sit in the trucks), so Enoch was unsure of what he was walking into)

sitting in a big tow truck

checking out the brand new trash truck

 standing up on the bulldozer

admiring the bucket truck (this is one of our new favorites because we see them all over town)

 working the control levers

telling Daddy about how the cement truck goes round and round

 standing inside the UPS truck

checking out the tires on a semi truck

 scoping out the red tractor

touching the tow truck

another one of our favorites - the dump truck

not sure what to think about the fire truck

And one last photo with Daddy

FFF: A big pile of dirt

This morning a dump truck arrived at our house with a load of planter's mix soil.  :)  Eventually I'm hoping it will make my vegetables happy, but one thing is for certain... Today, it made my Little Man pretty happy.  ;)

Here's the dump truck backing in.  We had to pay a delivery fee, but as one friend has already noted, that fee was well worth it just to have this big red dump truck in our yard, going up high, for a few minutes.  (and also well worth it considering we didn't have to go to the trouble of borrowing a truck/trailer and then cleaning it back out)

Here's a video of Enoch helping shovel the dirt into our planter bed.  Isn't his little mini-shovel so cute?

This was Sweet Girl's home for part of the morning (until she got tired).  I think she actually enjoyed the big dump truck too, which might have something to do with her big brother teaching her important things...  ;)

I should have more photos up shortly of all the holes we've been digging (and will soon be filling)... until then, Hugh's gonna rest his weary muscles and I'm gonna do the same.  :)
